Out on Film announced the lineup of films and events for the 34th edition of the Atlanta-based LGBTQIA+ film festival taking place September 24-October 3, 2021. The Oscar® qualifying film festival returns to theaters this year as part of its hybrid presentation.
This year’s 2021 Nashville Film Festival (NashFilm) will feature a total of 160 titles, including 45 feature-length films; along with special events, and more for the 52nd annual event, happening September 30 – October 6 both in-person and online.
The North Bend Film Festival returns this summer with a hybrid festival taking place July 15-18, 2021 with the in-person portion of the fest held at historic art deco North Bend Theatre.
Frameline unveiled the full program for Frameline45 LGBTQ+ film festival taking place Thursday, June 10 through Sunday, June 27, 2021. The 17-day festival will feature a hybrid of in-person and virtual offerings, along with a series of special screenings at San Francisco’s historic Castro Theatre and Roxy Theater.
Riz Ahmed (Sound of Metal, The Night of) will receive this year’s Excellence in Acting Award at the Provincetown International Film Festival (PIFF). His latest film, Mogul Mowgli, which he co-wrote, produced and stars in, will be screened during the festival. The film follows the story of a British Pakistani rapper who, on the cusp of his first world tour, is struck down by an illness that forces him to face his past, his family, and the uncertainty of his legacy. Ahmed will be honored in a virtual conversation during the festival. Strand Releasing will open the film in theaters on September 3.
The 47th Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF) announced the winners of the 2021 Golden Space Needle and Audience Awards. There Is No Evil won the Golden Space Needle Audience Award – Best Film and Who We Are: A Chronicle of Racism in America won the Golden Space Needle Audience Award – Best Documentary.

SXSW Film Festival announced the full program for the 28th edition of the festival which this year will take place online. The festival will open with Demi Lovato: Dancing with the Devil with Tom Petty, Somewhere You Feel Free as Centerpiece Film and Alone Together, a documentary on popstar Charli XCX, in quarantine will World Premiere as the Closing Night Film.
