After screening 299 films from 85 countries from October 3rd to 12th, the Busan International Film Festival Awards announced the winners of the 24th edition of the festival.

The San Sebastian Festival will join calls for approval of the abortion law in Argentina by filling itself with green scarves and screening the film La ola verde (Que sea ley) / Let It Be Law by Juan Solanas out of competition in its Horizontes Latinos section.

Fifteen films from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Cuba, Guatemala, Mexico, Peru and Uruguay will be showcased in the Horizontes Latinos section of the 2019 San Sebastian International Film Festival. The films cover a wide range of issues including the Guatemalan genocide, the Chile of the 70s, the crisis of the Cuban rafters, legal abortion in Argentina, and life in Mexico, but also narratives given no space in the history books: the passage into adult life, the crises of life and family relationships.

Juan Solanas returned to Cannes Official Selection, together with his father Fernando ‘Pino’ Solanas (La Hora de los Hornos), with Let It Be Law (Que Sea Ley), a powerful, militant and necessary documentary revealing the urgent, vital struggle for the recognition of women’s rights.
