The 26th annual Austin Film Festival (AFF) will present Just Mercy as its Closing Night film on October 31, 2019, with screenwriter Andrew Lanham, UT Michener Graduate and 2016 AFF Screenwriter to watch in attendance. Lanham has also been recognized by AFF previously as 2010’s Drama Screenplay Competition winner for The Jumper of Maine.

DOC NYC, America’s largest documentary festival, announced the full lineup for its expanded tenth anniversary edition, running November 6-15 at the IFC Center in Greenwich Village and Chelsea’s SVA Theatre and Cinépolis Chelsea. The 2019 festival includes 136 feature-length documentaries among over 300 films and events overall, making this landmark year DOC NYC’s biggest edition yet.

The Hamptons International Film Festival (HIFF) unveiled the full slate of films for the 2019 edition, including additional spotlight films – Tom Harper’s THE AERONAUTS, Marc Meyers’ HUMAN CAPITAL, Scott Z. Burns’ gripping post 9/11 drama THE REPORT; François Girard’s THE SONG OF NAMES; and Bruce Springsteen and Thom Zimny’s concert documentary WESTERN STARS.

The Hamptons International Film Festival (HIFF) will open the 2019 festival on Thursday, October 10, at Guild Hall, with the East Coast Premiere of JUST MERCY. A powerful and thought-provoking true story, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, JUST MERCY follows young lawyer Bryan Stevenson (Michael B. Jordan) and his history-making battle for justice as he fights a merciless legal system stacked against him and his clients at every turn. The film also stars Jamie Foxx, Rob Morgan, Tim Blake Nelson, Rafe Spall, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Karan Kendrick and Brie Larson.

SCANDALOUS, a new documentary directed by Mark Landsman (THUNDER SOUL, LOS JETS) that leads viewers on a wild ride through the larger-than-life pages of the National Enquirer, highlighting the publication’s impact on journalism, business, culture and politics has been acquired by Magnolia Picture for release in US. Magnolia is planning a November 15 theatrical release. CNN Films will have North American broadcast rights, while AGC International will oversee international distribution rights.
