The Online Film Critics Society (OFCS) announced the nominees for its 24th annual film awards. Films nominated for Best Picture include First Cow, I’m Thinking of Ending Things, Minari, Never Rarely Sometimes Always, Nomadland, Promising Young Woman and Sound of Metal.
The Houston Film Critics Society named ‘Nomadland’ the Best Picture of 2020 along with Best Director honors for Chloé Zhao and Best Cinematography for Joshua James Richards. The Society honored Taiwan’s ‘A Sun’ as Best Foreign Language Film and ‘My Octopus Teacher’ as Best Documentary.

Minari won 4 awards including Best Narrative Film and Nomadland also won 4 awards including Best Director for Chloé Zhao and Best Actress for Frances McDormand. For the third year in a row, the NCFCA voted as Best Narrative Film a film not primarily in English. Parasite won the award in 2019, and Roma won in 2018.
Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, directed by George C. Wolfe and adapted from August Wilson’s stage play, dominated the 2020 Chicago Indie Critics Awards, winning seven of its nine nominations.
