Indie films and documentary released on September 24, 2021 – -I’m Your Man; Surge; Apache Junction; Chernobyl 1986 and Aware: Glimpses of Consciousness
Its Friday, September 24, and opening in theaters are independent films I’m Your Man; Surge; Apache Junction; the Russian language drama Chernobyl 1986 along with the documentary films Aware: Glimpses of Consciousness and Man in the Field: The Life and Art of Jim Denevan.
FilmRise debuted the official trailer for Surge, a tense thriller starring Ben Whishaw as a man who goes on a bold and reckless journey of self-liberation in the city of London. Surge premiered at the Sundance Film Festival where Whishaw won the World Cinema Dramatic Special Jury Award for Acting. Also starring in the film are Ellie Haddington, Ian Gelder and Jasmine Jobson.
The British thriller, Surge, the first feature film from Aneil Karia (Beat, The Long Goodbye) starring BAFTA award winning actor Ben Whishaw (The Personal History of David Copperfield, Paddington, the James Bond franchise) will screen at this year’s Glasgow International Film Festival; and released in the UK and Ireland on May 28th 2021.
The Woodstock Film Festival announced the official lineup of more than 100 short and feature-length films for its 21st edition, taking place September 30th – October 4th, 2020.

This year’s 49th annual New Directors/New Films (ND/NF) will introduce 27 features and 10 short films to New York audiences from March 25 to April 5.

The 2020 Sundance Film Festival’s Awards Ceremony took place last night, with top awards – Grand Jury Prizes awarded to Minari for U.S. Dramatic, Boys State for U.S. Documentary, Epicentro for World Cinema Documentary and Yalda, a Night for Forgiveness for World Cinema Dramatic.
Directors Karim Aïnouz, Andrea Štaka and Francisco Márquez as well as the actors Ben Whishaw, Sandra Hüller and Stellan Skarsgård all present new films in the Berlinale Panorama program of the 2020 Berlin International Film Festival.

The 2020 Sundance Film Festival revealed the 118 feature-length films, representing 27 countries and 44 first-time feature filmmakers that will be showcased at the upcoming festival. Films range from indie films to star studded cast featuring Meek Mill, Wilmer Valderrama, Elisabeth Moss, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Anne Hathaway, Ben Affleck and more. The Festival hosts screenings in Park City, Salt Lake City and at Sundance Mountain Resort, from January 23 to February 2, 2020.
