The Banshees of Inisherin lead the nominations for the 80th Golden Globe Awards with eight nominations including Best Picture Drama, Best Director along with Screenplay, Motion Picture for Martin McDonagh, Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical/Comedy for Colin Farrell, Actor in a Supporting Role in Film for Brendan Gleeson and Barry Keoghan; and Actress in a Supporting Role in Film for Kerry Condon.
The National Board of Review announced their 2022 honorees, with top awards including Top Gun: Maverick for Best Film; Steven Spielberg for Best Director for The Fabelmans; Colin Farrell for Best Actor for The Banshees of Inisherin; and Michelle Yeoh for Best Actress for Everything Everywhere All at Once.
Everything Everywhere All At Once directed by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert (The Daniels) was named Best Picture of 2022 by the Atlanta Film Critics Circle. The film also received the honors of Best Director for The Daniels and Best Supporting Actor for Ke Huy Quan.
For his performance in The Banshees of Inisherin, Colin Farrell will receive the Desert Palm Achievement Award, Actor at the Palm Springs International Film Awards. The Film Awards will take place in-person on January 5, 2023 , with the festival running through January 16, 2023.
The Newport Beach Film Festival (NBFF) handed out its 2022 awards, with The Quiet Girl, the Irish film on a quiet, neglected girl sent away from her overcrowded, dysfunctional family to live with foster parents for the summer, winning the Jury award for Best Film. Lovely Jackson, the true life story of Rickey Jackson who spent 39 years on death row and in prison for a crime he didn’t commit, won for Best Feature Documentary.
Todd Fields’ Tár led the nominations for the 32nd Annual Gotham Awards with five nods including Best Feature, Best Screenplay, Best Lead Performance for Cate Blanchett and two in Best Supporting Performance for Nina Hoss and Noémie Merlant.
The 2022 Hamptons International Festival (HIFF) unveiled the full slate of films including the Closing Night presentation of the New York premiere of SR., directed by Chris Smith, and the Centerpiece screening of Sarah Polley’s Women Talking.
