Brazilian Film PACIFIED Wins Golden Shell at 67th San Sebastian Film Festival. Complete List of Winners.
Pacified (Pacificado) directed by Paxton Winters The Brazilian film Pacificado / Pacified, directed by Paxton Winters, is the winner of the Golden Shell for Best Film at the 67th edition of the San Sebastian Festival and the first Brazilian production to win the prize in the history of the Festival. Darren Aronofsky, Paula Linhares, Marcos Tellecheak, Lisa Muskat and Winters himself are the producers of this film set in the favelas of Brazil. As well as carrying off the Festival’s highest accolade, Pacified garnered another two recognitions: the Best Actor Silver Shell for Bukassa Kabengele and the Award for Best Cinematography going to Laura Merians.

Locarno Film Festival 2019 Winners – VITALINA VARELA Wins Pardo d’oro
VITALINA VARELA The 72nd edition of the Locarno Film Festival closed with the award ceremony, and VITALINA VARELA by Pedro Costa was awarded the top prize, the Pardo d’oro (Golden Leopard), Grand Prize of the City of Locarno. The film follows Vitalina Varela, a 55-year-old woman from Cape Verde, who arrives in Lisbon three days after her husband’s funeral. She’s been waiting for her plane ticket for more than 25 years. For her performance Vitalina Varela was awarded the Leopard for Best Actress.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt in 7500 directed by Patrick Vollrath The official program of the 72nd edition of the Locarno Film Festival was announced this week, along with tributes – the Leopard Club Award for Hilary Swank, the Vision Award Ticinomoda for Claire Atherton, the Premio Utopia for Enrico Ghezzi and the Premio Cinema Ticino for Fulvio Bernasconi.
