The 47th Atlanta Film Festival + Creative Conference (ATLFF) taking place Thursday, April 20 through Sunday, April 30, 2023, revealed the full lineup, headlined by the Opening Night presentation of Polite Society. Starring Priya Kansara and Ritu Arya, the film follows a martial artist-in-training who enlists her friends to help save her older sister from her impending marriage in the name of independence and sisterhood.
Chile ’76 (1976) by Manuela Martelli and The Cow Who Sang a Song Into the Future (La vaca que cantó una canción hacia el futuro) by Francisca Alegría, two debut feature films by emerging Chilean filmmakers will be released in the US by Kino Lorber.
Kino Lorber debuted the official trailer for The Cow Who Sang a Song Into the Future (a Vaca Que Cantó Una Canción Hacia El Futuro), the Chilean fantasy drama film that premiered at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival. Starring in the film are Mía Maestro, Alfredo Castro, Leonor Varela, Marcial Tagle, and Enzo Ferrada.
Cinema Tropical announced its annual list of Best Latin American Films of the Year, comprised of 25 Latin American titles from twelve different countries, plus five U.S. Latinx productions—all of them by female directors—that the New York-based organization has selected as the best of the year.
The 2022 Hamptons International Festival (HIFF) unveiled the full slate of films including the Closing Night presentation of the New York premiere of SR., directed by Chris Smith, and the Centerpiece screening of Sarah Polley’s Women Talking. The 30th edition of the festival will feature a lineup of films that are 54% female-directed and represent 34 countries from around the world.
The 2022 AFI Latin American Film Festival will take place in-person September 22 – October 12 at the historic AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Center in Silver Spring, MD. Now in its 33rd year, the Festival, one of the largest and longest-running showcases of Latin American cinema in the United States, will feature a wide-ranging selection of 41 films from 21 countries.

The 65th annual San Francisco International Film Festival will make its return to theaters in person, featuring more than 130 films from 56 countries, including 16 World and 10 North American premieres. The Festival will also celebrate cinematic icon Michelle Yeoh with a special tribute to be presented by critically acclaimed actor Sandra Oh. The 2022 Festival will run April 21–May 1.
