Artis – Naples announced the complete program lineup for the 12th Annual Naples International Film Festival (NIFF) to be held October 22-25, 2020 featuring both virtual and in-person events. NIFF’s in-person screenings will include two documentaries, opening on October 22 with Alice Gu’s award-winning documentary The Donut King, and closing on October 25 with Aurélia Rouvier and Seamus Haley’s festival favorite Banksy Most Wanted. Both screenings will be outdoors on a large screen in the Norris Garden on the Artis – Naples Kimberly K. Querrey and Louis A. Simpson Cultural Campus.

Urbanworld Film Festival announced the 2020 award winners with The Killing of Kenneth Chamberlain, directed by David Midell winning the award for Best Narrative Feature (US) . The Killing of Kenneth Chamberlain is based on the true story of the events that led to the death of Kenneth Chamberlain Sr., an elderly African American veteran suffering from bipolar disorder, who was killed during a conflict with police officers who were dispatched to check on him.

This year’s 15th edition of Martha’s Vineyard International Film Festival will run September 8-13th, 2020. Due to COVID, the festival will be a hybrid affair, with socially distanced seating (of 25 or less) at the Film Center’s screenings, virtual interviews, and all festival films available online for viewing.

Sidewalk Film Festival announced the complete film lineup of official selections for the 22nd edition of the Birmingham-based film festival which will take place August 24-30. All 163 films (41 features, 122 shorts) and 23 music videos, will be screened at The Grand River Drive-In at The Backyard in Leeds.

Bentonville Film Festival announced the jury prize winners for their sixth annual festival, with Isabel Sandoval’s Lingua Franca winning the jury award for Best Narrative Feature. In this beguiling drama, an undocumented Filipina immigrant paranoid about deportation works as a caregiver to a Russian-Jewish grandmother in Brighton Beach, Brooklyn. When the American man she’s secretly paying for a green card marriage backs out, she becomes involved with a slaughterhouse worker who is unaware that she’s transgender.

The 2020 Bentonville Film Festival co-founded by Academy Award®-winning actor Geena Davis, set to run August 10-16, announced their spotlight and competition program of independent feature films, shorts, and episodic titles. The 6th annual film festival will be presented as a hybrid structure, pairing digital screenings, panels and events alongside select on-the-ground premieres and conversations.

The 2020 Sun Valley Film Festival (SVFF), which had been scheduled to take place in March, but was cancelled due to Covid-19, still awarded numerous prizes and mentorship opportunities to independent filmmakers whose films were either confirmed to screen or were eligible for prizes.
