
Celine Song’s Past Lives was named film of the year by the Dublin Film Critics Circle, representing Ireland’s professional film critics. Song also won best director.

Melbourne International Film Festival (MIFF) unveiled its full 2023 film line-up of 267 films including the hilarious musical mockumentary Theater Camp as Closing Night Gala presentation for the festival’s 71st edition set for in-cinemas from August 3-20, 2023.

The National Society of Film Critics (NSFC) revealed their winners and runners-up for 2022, naming Todd Field’s TÁR as Best Picture of the year, along with Best Actress for Cate Blanchett and Best Screenplay forTodd Field.

Sight and Sound, the BFI’s international film magazine chose Charlotte Wells’ Aftersun, which recently won 7 BIFAs as the Best Film of the Year. Paul Mescal and newcomer Frankie Corio give astonishing performances as a father and daughter on holiday in Turkey in the late 1990s, in this moving and reflective feature debut. Alice Diop’s Saint Omer came in at 2nd place and Park Chanwook’s DECISION TO LEAVE in 3rd place.

David Cronenberg’s Crimes of the Future, Jerzy Skolimowski’s EO, and Charlotte Wells’s Aftersun took the top spots among films released in 2022 on Film Comment’s annual end-of-year survey. Of the films that screened at festivals worldwide but have not announced stateside distribution, David Easteal’s The Plains, Bertrand Bonello’s Coma, and Laura Citarella’s Trenque Lauquen received the top rankings.

The National Board of Review announced their 2022 honorees, with top awards including Top Gun: Maverick for Best Film; Steven Spielberg for Best Director for The Fabelmans; Colin Farrell for Best Actor for The Banshees of Inisherin; and Michelle Yeoh for Best Actress for Everything Everywhere All at Once.

A24 debuted the official trailer for The Eternal Daughter, a haunting ghost story starring Academy-Award winner Tilda Swinton in an iconic dual role. Also starring in the film are Joseph Mydell and Carly-Sophia Davies
