Awkwafina (The Farewell), Taron Egerton (Rocketman), Florence Pugh (Midsommar), and Taylor Russell (Waves) Awkwafina (The Farewell), Taron Egerton (Rocketman), Florence Pugh (Midsommar), and Taylor Russell (Waves) will receive the Virtuosos Award at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, an honor created to recognize a select group of talent whose noteworthy performances in film have elevated them into the national cinematic dialogue. The tribute will take place on Saturday, January 18th at the historic Arlington Theatre during the 35th Santa Barbara International Film Festival.

7 Indie Filmmakers Selected for 2019 Film Independent Producing Lab
Film Independent announced the producers selected for its 19th annual Producing Lab. This intensive program is designed to help creative, independent producers develop their skills and further their careers by introducing Fellows to film professionals who can advise them on both the craft and business of independent producing. Each Producing Lab Fellow will be paired with an experienced Creative Advisor with whom they’ll work to develop their project over the course of the program.

A WHITE, WHITE DAY, directed by Hlynur Pálmason The 27th Hamptons International Film Festival announced their award winners, with the top prizes going to A WHITE, WHITE DAY, directed by Hlynur Pálmason, won the Award for Best Narrative Feature, and OVERSEAS, directed by Sung-a Yoon, received the Award for Best Documentary Feature. JUST ME AND YOU, directed by Sandrine Brodeur-Desrosiers received the Award for Best Narrative Short Film, and GHOSTS OF SUGAR LAND, directed by Bassam Tariq, won for Best Documentary Short Film. Both Short Films will qualify for Academy® awards consideration.

Seattle International Film Festival 2019 to Celebrate Actress Regina Hall + Announces Lineup

The Seattle International Film Festival announced today the complete lineup and as part of this year’s celebration of women in comedy, the Festival will celebrate the work of Regina Hall by presenting her with the Seattle International Film Festival Award for Outstanding Achievement in Cinema. In addition to the award presentation, the acclaimed actor is slated for an on-stage interview on Sunday, June 2 at 2:00 PM at SIFF Cinema Egyptian. Following Ms. Hall’s tribute, she will introduce Support the Girls, Andrew Bujalski’s film which won her the New York Film Critics Circle Award for Best Actress.
