The 43rd Portland International Film Festival (PIFF 43) announced the lineup featuring 10 days of films, talks, workshops, performances, and special events throughout Portland from March 6 to 15, 2020. The program showcases over 120 films from 40 countries, with sneak previews of upcoming releases including Sony Pictures Classics’ The Climb, Disney/Pixar’s Onward, Searchlight’s David Copperfield, Oscilloscope’s Clementine, and A24’s First Cow.

The Los Angeles Film Critics Association named Bong Joon-ho‘s Parasite as Best Picture of 2019 along with Best Director for Joon-ho and Best Supporting Actor for Song Kang Ho, with Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman as runner-up in all three categories.
The American Film Institute announced the films that will play in the New Auteurs, Cinema’s Legacy, Midnight, Shorts and AFI Conservatory Showcase sections at AFI FEST 2019 presented by Audi, completing the festival’s program.
The 2019 Camden International Film Festival (CIFF) hosted their annual Awards Ceremony, presenting five awards for documentary features and two for documentary shorts, in addition to its Points North Pitch Award.
For its 15th edition, the Camden International Film Festival (CIFF) which will take place September 12-15, 2019 throughout Camden, Rockport and Rockland, Maine, will present 38 features, 50 short films, and 16 virtual reality and immersive experiences from over 35 countries. More than half of the feature films are presented as major premieres, including the US Premiere of Alex Gibney’s Citizen K.
The 72nd edition of the Locarno Film Festival closed with the award ceremony, and VITALINA VARELA by Pedro Costa was awarded the top prize, the Pardo d’oro (Golden Leopard), Grand Prize of the City of Locarno. The film follows Vitalina Varela, a 55-year-old woman from Cape Verde, who arrives in Lisbon three days after her husband’s funeral. She’s been waiting for her plane ticket for more than 25 years. For her performance Vitalina Varela was awarded the Leopard for Best Actress.
The Giverny Document (Single Channel) by Ja’Tovia M. Gary is the winner of 2019 Locarno Film Festival’s Moving Ahead Award for the Best Film. Filmed on location in Harlem and in Monet’s historic gardens in Giverny, this multi-textured cinematic poem meditates on the bodily integrity and creative virtuosity of black women.
The official program of the 72nd edition of the Locarno Film Festival was announced this week, along with tributes – the Leopard Club Award for Hilary Swank, the Vision Award Ticinomoda for Claire Atherton, the Premio Utopia for Enrico Ghezzi and the Premio Cinema Ticino for Fulvio Bernasconi.
