Quentin Tarantino’s “The Hateful Eight” dominated the 2015 Capri, Hollywood – The International Film Festival; apart from acknowledging the film as ‘Best Movie,’ the festival also gave awards to Samuel L. Jackson and Jennifer Jason Leigh, and to the music score composed by Ennio Morricone.
Samuel L. Jackson and Jennifer Jason Leigh are considered the Best Leading Actor and Best Supporting Actress, for their roles in “The Hateful Eight”, a film produced by Bob & Harvey Weinstein, and distributed in Italy by Leone Group’s Andrea and Raffaella Leone, who were awarded as Capri’s ‘Producers of the Year’.

The Best Animation Movie is “Inside Out”; The Best Documentary is Paolo Ruffini’s “Resilienza”, the Best Foreign Movie is “Labyrinth of Lies” by Giulio Ricciarelli, a filmmaker of Italian origin and German adoption, running for the Oscar and included in the Academy’s Short List. Enrico Iannaccone was elected by the festival as “Director of the Future” for “La Buona Uscita.”
The prestigious ‘Legend award’ went to Irish film director Jim Sheridan. Belgian performer Matthias Schoenaerts was awarded as “Revelation of the Year” for Hooper’s “The Danish Girl”. Oscar-winning screenwriter Bobby Moresco (“Crash”) – who in Capri announced his commitment to the Ambi Film-produced movie about Lamborghini – is the 2016 Italian-American Icon.

‘Spotlight’ ‘Amy’ ‘Son of Saul’ Among Los Angeles Film Critics Association Winners
‘Spotlight’ was named Best Picture of 2015 by the Los Angeles Film Critics Association (LAFCA), besting ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ which received Runner Up honors. ‘Amy’ beat ‘The Look of Silence’ for Best Documentary honors, and ‘Son of Saul’ took Best Foreign Film, with Runner Up honors going to ‘The Tribe.’
The winners will be honored at the official awards ceremony on January 9, which will be dedicated to the late Belgian director Chantal Akerman. Film editor Anne V. Coates, who won the Oscar for film-editing for her work on 1963’s “Lawrence of Arabia,” will be honored with the group’s career achievement award.

THE DANISH GIRL, AMY, BROOKLYN are Winners at 2015 Hollywood Film Awards
The 2015 Hollywood Film Awards, the official launch of the awards season, took place last weekend at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. The Danish Girl (pictured above) was a big winner, taking awards for Hollywood Director Award for Tom Hooper, Hollywood Breakout Actress Award for Alicia Vikander, and Hollywood Film Composer Award for Alexandre Desplat.

Other winners included Carey Mulligan who spoke passionately about women’s rights while accepting the Hollywood Actress Award for her work in Suffragette, Asif Kapadia won the Hollywood Documentary Award for Amy, and Jane Fonda who received a standing ovation after stepping onstage to accept the “Supporting Actress Award” for her work in Youth. Quentin Tarantino’s film The Hateful Eight will be honored with the “Hollywood Ensemble Award” at the “19th Annual Hollywood Film Awards.” The Hateful Eight stars Zoë Bell, Demian Bichir, Bruce Dern, Walton Goggins, Dana Gourrier, Lee Horsley, Samuel L. Jackson, Keith Jefferson, Gene Jones, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Michael Madsen, Belinda Owino, James Parks, Tim Roth, Kurt Russell, Craig Stark and Channing Tatum among others. Written and directed by Quentin Tarantino, The Hateful Eight is produced by Richard N. Gladstein, Stacey Sher and Shannon McIntosh. Harvey Weinstein, Bob Weinstein and Georgia Kacandes are executive producers, and Coco Francini and William Paul Clark are associate producers.

About The Hateful Eight
Six or eight or twelve years after the Civil War, a stagecoach hurtles through the wintry Wyoming landscape. The passengers, bounty hunter John Ruth (Kurt Russell) and his fugitive Daisy Domergue (Jennifer Jason Leigh), race towards the town of Red Rock, where Ruth, known in these parts as “The Hangman,” will bring Domergue to justice. Along the road, they encounter two strangers: Major Marquis Warren (Samuel L. Jackson), a black former union soldier turned infamous bounty hunter, and Chris Mannix (Walton Goggins), a southern renegade who claims to be the town’s new Sheriff. Losing their lead on the blizzard, Ruth, Domergue, Warren and Mannix seek refuge at Minnie’s Haberdashery, a stagecoach stopover on a mountain pass. When they arrive at Minnie’s, they are greeted not by the proprietor but by four unfamiliar faces. Bob (Demian Bichir), who’s taking care of Minnie’s while she’s visiting her mother, is holed up with Oswaldo Mobray (Tim Roth), the hangman of Red Rock, cow-puncher Joe Gage (Michael Madsen), and Confederate General Sanford Smithers (Bruce Dern). As the storm overtakes the mountainside stopover, our eight travelers come to learn they may not make it to Red Rock after all.
