The Novice scored 5 nominations including Best Feature, Best Director, Best Editing, Best Female Lead and Best Supporting Female.
IFC Films released the official trailer for The Novice, the award-winning indie thriller that premiered at the 2021 Tribeca Film Festival and won three prizes including Best U.S. Narrative Feature Film, Best Cinematography, and Best Actress for Isabelle Fuhrman. Out on Film announced the filmmaker awards for the recently concluded 34th edition of the Oscar ® qualifying, Atlanta-based LGBTQIA+ film festival. Marley Morrison’s Sweetheart was a jury favorite, winning Best Narrative Feature and Best Ensemble. T.J. Parsell’s Invisible: Gay Women in Southern Music won both the Jury’s favor for Best Documentary, as well as the Audience Award for Best Documentary, and filmmaker Lauren Hadaway announced herself with Jury nods for both Best First Feature for her film The Novice, as well as capturing the Best Director prize.

The 2021 Tribeca Festival unveiled its feature film lineup of 66 films from 81 filmmakers from across 23 different countries. The line-up includes 56 world premieres, 1 international premiere, 4 North American premieres, 1 U.S. premiere, and 4 New York premieres. The Festival’s 20th anniversary edition will run June 9-20 with live in-person events at outdoor venues across all New York City boroughs.
