Lila Avilés’s Mexican Drama ‘Tótem’ Opens 34th AFI Latin American Film Festival Lineup
Tótem 44 films from 21 countries have been confirmed to screen at the 34th AFI Latin American Film Festival, taking place September 21 to October 11 at the historic AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Center in Silver Spring, Maryland. The Festival spotlights Latin America’s films and filmmaking during National Hispanic Heritage Month.

Rodrigo Sorogoyen’s THE BEASTS Wins 3 Awards at 40th Miami Film Festival
The Beasts directed by Rodrigo Sorogoyen The Goya Award-winning film The Beasts, directed by Goya Award-winner and Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Rodrigo Sorogoyen, took the top jury prize, the $25,000 Knight MARIMBAS Award, at the 40th Miami Film Festival. The thriller about a French couple starting a new life in rural Galicia, Spain, also received the Rene Rodriguez Critics Award, and “The Beasts” composer Oliver Arson earned the Alacran Music in Film Award. The award highlights the power of music and film and celebrates the role of the film composer and was selected by the Art of Light (Composer) Award honoree Nicholas Britell.

Somewhere In Queens directed by Ray Romano Miami Film Festival will celebrate its 40th anniversary edition from March 3-12, 2023, opening with Somewhere in Queens, directed by comedian and actor Ray Romano, who will attend. The festival will close with The Lost King, directed by Stephen Frears on Saturday, March 11.
