Killers of the Flower Moon directed by Martin Scorsese was named Best Picture of 2023 along with the honor of Best Actress for Lily Gladstone, by the Boston Online Film Critics Association (BOFCA).

The San Diego Film Critics Society picked the coming-of-age film Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret directed by Kelly Fremon Craig as the Best Picture of 2023. The film also won Best Supporting Actress for Rachel McAdams, Best Youth Performance (For a performer under the age of 18) for Abby Ryder Fortson, Best Adapted Screenplay for Kelly Fremon Craig and Breakthrough Actor for Abby Ryder Fortson.

The Dallas-Fort Worth Film Critics Association voted the comedy-drama film The Holdovers as the best film of 2023, according to the results of its 30th annual critics’ poll. The film also won Best Supporting Actress for Da’Vine Joy Randolph and Best Screenplay for David Hemingson.

Poor Things has been named the best film of 2023 by the Indiana Film Journalists Association, winning 7 awards, the most ever in the 15 years of the IFJA awards, including Best Lead Performance for Emma Stone, Best Supporting Performance for Mark Ruffalo, Best Director for Yorgos Lanthimos, Best Adapted Screenplay for Tony McNamara, Original Vision and Best Ensemble Acting.

Of the films that screened at festivals worldwide but have not yet announced stateside distribution, Eduardo Williams’s The Human Surge 3, Lisandro Alonso’s Eureka, and Víctor Erice’s Close Your Eyes received top rankings.

Barbie leads the film nominations for the 29th annual Critics Choice Awards earning 18 nominations including Best Picture and Best Comedy. The film received several acting nominations including Best Actress for Margot Robbie, Best Supporting Actor for Ryan Gosling and Best Supporting Actress for America Ferrera. Ariana Greenblatt is also up for Best Young Actor/Actress, and the cast garnered a Best Acting Ensemble nomination. Greta Gerwig earned a nod for Best Director and both Gerwig and Noah Baumbach are contenders for Best Original Screenplay.

The Los Angeles Film Critics Association (LAFCA) voted The Zone of Interest the Best Picture of 2023, along with Best Director for Jonathan Glazer, Best Actress for Sandra Hüller (who also won for The Zone of Interest) and Best Music/Score.
