The European Film Academy revealed the nominees of the main categories of the 35th European Film Awards. Films nominated for European Film include Alcarràs directed by Carla Simón, Close directed by Lukas Dhont, Corsage directed by Marie Kreutzer, Holy Spider directed by Ali Abbasi, and Triangle of Sadness directed by Ruben Östlund.
The 66th BFI London Film Festival (LFF) announced the full program line-up of films, series and immersive art works from over 63 countries with 41% of the program made by female and non-binary directors/creators or co-directors/creators and 34% made by ethnically diverse directors/creators.
The European Film Academy Board has chosen 30 films to be part of the Academy´s Feature Film Selection 2022 for the European Film Awards. The Feature Film Selection includes films that the Board of the Academy recommends to all Academy members for a nomination for the European Film Awards 2022. In a second part, 10-15 further titles for the Feature Film Selection will be announced in September.
Zurich Film Festival announced the first seven titles in Gala Premieres section at the upcoming 18th edition, including the star-studded drama The Banshees of Inisherin by Oscar-winning director Martin McDonagh, the European premiere of the German film adaptation All Quiet on the Western Front by Edward Berger as well as the world premieres of Der Nachname by Sönke Wortmann and Die Goldenen Jahre by Barbara Kulcsar.

In the film starring Woody Harrelson as Thomas, The Captain, models Carl and Yaya are invited for a luxury cruise with a rogues’ gallery of super-rich passengers. At first, all appears Instagrammable. But a storm is brewing, and the cruise ends catastrophically. Carl and Yaya find themselves marooned on a desert island with a group of billionaires and one of the ship’s cleaners. Hierarchy is suddenly flipped upside down, as the housekeeper is the the only one who knows how to fish.
Cannes Film Festival announced the Official Selection for the 75th edition of the festival. Michel Hazanavicius’ zombie comedy Z (Comme Z) starring Bérénice Bejo and Romain Duris will open the festival Out of Competition.
