The Oklahoma Film Critics Circles (OFCC) voted “Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood” as the Best Picture of 2019. Honors for Best Documentary went to “American Factory,” Best Foreign Language Film went to “Parasite” and Best First Feature went to Joe Talbot’s “The Black Man in San Francisco.”
Bong Joon-ho’s Parasite is the big winner this year with the Seattle Film Critics Society (“SFCS”) winning five awards, including Best Picture of the Year. The South Korean film also earned Bong the Best Director award and Best Screenplay, which he shares with co-writer Han Jin-won. Parasite was also named Best Foreign Language Film and the film’s ensemble was honored with the Best Ensemble Cast award.
The Chicago Film Critics Association (CFCA) announced the nominees for their top film honors of 2019. Nominees include Noah Baumbach’s Marriage Story and Bong Joon Ho’s Parasite plus Céline Sciamma’s Portrait of a Lady on Fire.

Bong Joon Ho’s Parasite took the top spot among films released in 2019 in Film Comment’s annual end-of-year survey. Of the films that screened at festivals worldwide but have not announced stateside distribution, Sergei Loznitsa’s State Funeral, Eloy Enciso Cachafeiro’s Endless Night, and Kiyoshi Kurosawa’s To the Ends of the Earth received the top rankings.
The Los Angeles Film Critics Association named Bong Joon-ho‘s Parasite as Best Picture of 2019 along with Best Director for Joon-ho and Best Supporting Actor for Song Kang Ho, with Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman as runner-up in all three categories.
Parasite, South Korean director Bong Joon-ho’s dark, class-based comedy about a poor family that scams a rich one, took three top awards from the Toronto Film Critics Association – Best Picture, Best Director and Best Foreign Film.
“The Irishman” leads all films this year with 14 nominations for 25th Annual Critics’ Choice Awards including Best Picture, Robert De Niro for Best Actor, Al Pacino and Joe Pesci for Best Supporting Actor, Martin Scorsese for Best Director, Best Acting Ensemble, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Production Design, Best Editing, Best Costume Design, Best Hair and Makeup, Best Visual Effects, and Best Score.
Marriage Story along with The Irishman and Joker lead the 2019 San Diego Film Critics Society’s Award Nominations scoring multiple nominations including for Best Picture. The San Diego Film Critics Society comprises of print, radio, TV and digital film critics working in San Diego County.
The New York Film Critics Circle named Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman as the Best Film of 2019 along with Best Supporting Actor honors for Joe Pesci, for his performance in the film. Honeyland was named Best Non-Fiction Film; Best Animated Film went to I Lost My Body, and Parasite continued its winning streak nabbing the Best Foreign Language Film honor.
South Korean director Bong Joon-ho’s dark comedy, Parasite, dominated the 2019 Atlanta Film Critics Circle Awards winning the awards for Best International Film, Best Director for Bong Joon-ho as well as a Best Screenplay award for co-writers Bong Joon-ho and Han Jin-won. Parasite also made the critics Top 10 Films list.
