The Indiana Film Journalists Association voted Everything Everywhere All at Once as the Best Film of 2022. The film won a total of four honors including Ke Huy Quan for Best Supporting Performance, Paul Rogers for Best Editing and the Original Vision Award, which recognizes a film that is especially distinct and innovative.
David Cronenberg’s Crimes of the Future, Jerzy Skolimowski’s EO, and Charlotte Wells’s Aftersun took the top spots among films released in 2022 on Film Comment’s annual end-of-year survey. Of the films that screened at festivals worldwide but have not announced stateside distribution, David Easteal’s The Plains, Bertrand Bonello’s Coma, and Laura Citarella’s Trenque Lauquen received the top rankings.
Utopia debuted the official trailer for We’re All Going to the World’s Fair, the coming-of-age horror drama film starring Anna Cobb and Michael J Rogers that premiered in the NEXT section of the 2021 Sundance Film Festival. The film was also an official selection of New Directors/New Films, Fantasia, Outfest, Rooftop Films and more.
The 7th edition of Final Girls Berlin Film Festival (FGBFF), Berlin’s premier showcase of horror films made by women* and non-binary filmmakers returns for their full program of feature films, short blocks, talks by international horror specialists, and a retro screening. In addition to the live in-person line-up, FGBFF, running February 3 – 6th, 2022, will offer most of their short film programs online for worldwide on-demand access during the festival.
Indie Memphis Film Festival 2021 announced the full slate of films for this year’s edition set to run as a hybrid of online and in-person screenings and events from October 20th – 25th, 2021.

The Nashville Film Festival (NashFilm) returns for its 52nd edition with a week-long celebration of film, music and culture in central Nashville from September 30 through October 6, 2021.
The North Bend Film Festival returns this summer with a hybrid festival taking place July 15-18, 2021 with the in-person portion of the fest held at historic art deco North Bend Theatre.
Riz Ahmed (Sound of Metal, The Night of) will receive this year’s Excellence in Acting Award at the Provincetown International Film Festival (PIFF). His latest film, Mogul Mowgli, which he co-wrote, produced and stars in, will be screened during the festival. The film follows the story of a British Pakistani rapper who, on the cusp of his first world tour, is struck down by an illness that forces him to face his past, his family, and the uncertainty of his legacy. Ahmed will be honored in a virtual conversation during the festival. Strand Releasing will open the film in theaters on September 3.
The Independent Film Festival Boston (IFFBoston) announced the full lineup of films that will screen at the 2021 festival set to take place virtually online from May 6th – May 16, 2021. “Summer of Soul” directed by Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson will open the festival on Thursday May 6th and “How It Ends” directed by Zoe Lister-Jones and Darryl Wein will close the festival on Sunday, May 16th.
