Filmmakers Hannah Barlow and Kane Senes released via Deadline the official trailer for Sissy, the Australian horror comedy set to world premiere in the Midnighters section of the 2022 SXSW film festival.

Phoenix Rising, a two-part documentary produced and directed by Amy Berg (HBO’s “The Case against Adnan Syed”), follows actress and activist Evan Rachel Wood as she takes her experience as a survivor of domestic violence to pursue justice, heal generational wounds, and reclaim her story. Almost a decade after escaping a dangerous relationship, Wood co-authors and successfully lobbies for passage of The Phoenix Act, legislation that extends the statute of limitations for domestic violence cases in California. Wood courageously uses her own experience to bring visibility to the issue; ultimately, in solidarity with fellow survivors.
Grasshopper Film debuted the official for Întregalde, the Romanian thriller film directed by Radu Muntean which premiered at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival. The thriller had its North American premiere at the 2021 Toronto International Film Festival followed by a screening at the 2021 New York Film Festival.

The 15th edition of the BFI Future Film Festival announced the winners of the Awards with talented young filmmakers aged 16-25 that took home prizes include Adekemi Roluga for Best New Talent for Exhale; Florence Winter Hill for Best Film for The Gospel According to Gail; and Will Wightman for Best Director for Heart Failure.

Aftershock, from directors Paula Eiselt and Tonya Lewis Lee, which won the Sundance Film Festival’s U.S. Documentary Special Jury Award for Impact for Change upon its debut there last month has been acquired by Disney’s Onyx Collective and ABC News. The documentary film will stream on Hulu in the U.S., on Star+ in Latin America, and on Disney+ in all other territories.
The ground-breaking documentary Uprooted: The Journey of Jazz Dance, from visionary filmmaker Khadifa Wong, streams exclusively in the U.S. on HBO Max, beginning February 1st, as part of Black History Month celebration. The documentary traces the origin in Africa and follows the evolution through each decade and genre while exploring and commenting on the political and social influences that shaped the artistry of today.

IFC Films released the official trailer for Happening (L’événement), the BAFTA-nominated French drama film directed by Audrey Diwan that world premiered at the 78th Venice International Film Festival where the film won the Golden Lion top prize. Happening also screened in the Spotlight section of the 2022 Sundance Film Festival.
Apple will re-release CODA in theaters for a limited theatrical run following its history-making Academy Award nominations, including a nomination for Best Picture. The film will be presented in major cities across the U.S. and London, free of charge and with open captions, beginning Friday, February 25 through Sunday, February 27, 2022.
