HBO’s The Bee Gees: How Can You Mend A Broken Heart and Amazon’s Sound of Metal starring Riz Ahmed tied for the MIAMI GEMS 2020 Audience Award at the Miami Film Festival GEMS. Philippe Lacôte’s sophomore feature, Night of the Kings has been chosen as the Ivory Coast submission for the 93rd Academy Awards. The film premiered at the Venice Film Festival and went on to screen at the Toronto International Film Festival and New York Film Festival. Night of the Kings will be released by NEON, with plans to be announced at a later date.

The 28th Hamptons International Film Festival announced their award winners at a virtual ceremony. This Is Not a Burial, It’s a Resurrection, directed by Lemohang Jeremiah Mosese, won the Award for Best Narrative Feature and Collective (Colectiv), directed by Alexander Nanau, received the Award for Best Documentary Feature.

Showtime Sports announced the new short feature series, “Shut Up and Dribble”, voiced by journalist Jemele Hill set to be released on the Showtime Basketball YouTube Channel and air interstitially on Showtime over the next two weeks.
The 2020 Milwaukee Film Festival runs all-virtual from October 15 – 29, featuring 197 film titles. AFI FEST 2020 has added a Centerpiece Drive-in screening of One Night in Miami… directed by Academy Award® winner Regina King, to this year’s festival line-up. The Amazon Original film will screen at the Rose Bowl on Monday, October 19. The film takes place over one night with icons Muhammad Ali, Malcolm X, Sam Cooke and Jim Brown examining the civil rights movement. Written by Olivier-nominated Kemp Powers, based off his 2013 stage play, One Night in Miami… stars Kingsley Ben-Adir, Eli Goree, Aldis Hodge and Leslie Odom Jr.
