    Sony Pictures Classics will release The Duke, the dramedy film directed by Roger Michell and starring Academy Award® winners Jim Broadbent along with Helen Mirren, in theaters in New York and Los Angeles on March 25, 2022, before expanding in the following weeks. The film is currently playing at the Laemmle Royal in Los Angeles for a one-week awards qualifying run, which ends December 16th.

    The Berlinale Retrospective “No Angels – Mae West, Rosalind Russell & Carole Lombard” postponed due to the pandemic will now be presented at the 72nd Berlin International Film Festival in February. The section’s 27 films were made during the heyday of the screwball comedy from 1932 to 1943, and each one showcases the distinctive style of its star. Ten of the movies will be shown with German subtitles.

    The Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan (MMJCCM) announced the lineup for its 3rd annual Cinematters: NY Social Justice Film Festival, which will screen in person and virtually January 13–17, 2022. Building on the festival’s success over the past two years and the ongoing global conversations around racial and social justice, the festival will present impactful films and conversations exploring inequality, injustice, advocacy, and social responsibility through the lens of issues such as racial and economic discrimination, environmental justice, immigrants’ rights, and religious intolerance.
