Maren Ade’s dark comedy, Toni Erdmann was the big winner at the 14th International Cinephile Society Awards (ICS), taking top honors for Best picture, director, non-English language film and original screenplay.
Peter Simonischek also won best actor for his hilarious and poignant turn in the title role. Other multiple award winners include Paul Verhoeven’s Elle winning the awards for adapted screenplay, editing, and best actress for Isabelle Huppert; and Moonlight, with André Holland nabbing supporting actor for his soulful turn as the adult Kevin, in addition, to the ICS ensemble award for the film’s terrific cast of actors.
