The Julian Assange documentary The Six Billion Dollar Man directed by Eugene Jarecki has withdrawn from the 2025 Sundance Film Festival as the film will not be completed in time. The feature film was playing as a Special Screening in the feature film lineup.
The documentary description via Sundance: “Julian Assange faced a possible 175 years in prison for exposing U.S. war crimes until events took a turn in this landmark case.”
In a statement from director Eugene Jarecki, he said, “The truth is, significant recent and unexpected developments have emerged at the heart of the story which, if not incorporated in the version for Sundance, would not represent a finished film. Sundance has shaped my career and been a cornerstone of my journey—only something of this magnitude could make me withdraw.”
The 2025 Festival will take place from January 23–February 2, 2025, in person in Park City and Salt Lake City, Utah, with a selection of titles available online from January 30–February 2, 2025, for audiences across the country.
