A24’s The Brutalist will make its streaming debut on Max on Friday, May 16. The three-time Academy Award(-winning film will debut on HBO linear on Saturday, MAY 17 at 8:00 p.m. ET.
Directed by Brady Corbet, The Brutalist stars Academy Award-winner Adrien Brody, Felicity Jones, Guy Pearce, Joe Alwyn, Raffey Cassidy, Stacy Martin, Emma Laird, with Isaach de Bankolé, and Alessandro Nivola.

Flintoff, documentary on former cricketer and broadcast presenter Andrew “Freddie” Flintoff to Premiere on Disney+
“Flintoff”, a new 90-minute Original documentary film featuring exclusive access to former international cricketer and broadcast presenter Andrew ‘Freddie’ Flintoff, will premiere exclusively on Disney+ in the UK and Ireland on Friday 25th April.
The film will look back at Flintoff’s incredible life and cricketing career that saw him win two Ashes series with England and become a national sporting hero, whilst charting his life today and return to cricket following his life-altering car crash in 2022.
Award-winning director John Dower has been granted exclusive access to Freddie over the last year to film his recovery and document his cricketing career.
Freddie Flintoff said, “Cricket’s always been a massive part of my life, shaping who I am. Looking back on the highs and the lows, including the challenges I’ve faced since my accident, has been a real reminder of why my career in the sport has meant so much.”
2025 New York CineFest to showcase 100 independent films from April 24–27
The 2025 New York CineFest is set run from April 24–27 at the LOOK Dine-In Cinemas W57, showcasing 100 independent films from emerging and established voices in filmmaking.
Featured films include performances by Haley McFarland (The Conjuring), Lorraine Bracco (Goodfellas), Leah Remini (The King of Queens), and Sean Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy), among others.

26th JEONJU International Film Festival to feature 224 films in South Korea

The 26th JEONJU International Film Festival (JIFF) is set to take place in Jeonju, Korean, featuring 224 indie and art house films from 57 countries.
From April 30 to May 9, Jeonju City will host the film festival under the slogan ‘Beyond the Frame’, presenting a diverse array of programs.
With a 10-day run, the 26th edition of the festival will screen a total of 224 films. Opening the festival will be the film Kontinental ’25 by director Radu Jude. The film “In the Land of Machines” by KIM Okyoung will close the festival.
A variety of side events will also take place throughout Jeonju, including Jeonju Film Street in Gosa-dong, Palbok Arts Factory, and Nambu Traditional Market. There will be programs such as the ‘100 Films 100 Posters’ archive exhibition and the ‘JEONJU Cinetour’, where everyone is welcome to enjoy together.
The section ‘Special Focus: Possible Cinemas’ encapsulates the spirit of the JIFF and the key themes it brings to the global film community. It will present 12 films, including Afternoons of Solitude, by directors who have steadfastly upheld creative independence and cultivated distinctive cinematic styles, leaving an indelible mark on their work.
In addition, the festival will examine the current realities of democracy and its future in a global context through the ‘Frontline’ subsection ‘Again, Towards Democracy’. This section will feature six documentaries that explore political situations in various countries. As part of it, The Last Republican, which chronicles politicians striving to promote democratic values, will be screened.
Jeonju Mayor and the festival chairperson Woo Beom-ki, said, “The JEONJU International Film Festival is not merely a film event—it is a platform for cultural diplomacy that promotes Jeonju’s identity as an international cultural city on the global stage. I hope that filmmakers, tourists, and audiences from around the world will visit Jeonju, where they can experience the city’s authentic Korean charm and its vibrant role as a hub of the Korean cinema.”
During the film festival, Jeonju will also host the ‘2025 Jeonju World Culture Week – Australia Culture Week’ from May 3 to 8, the ‘5th Jeonju Garden Industry Expo’ from May 9 to 13, and the ‘2025 Joseon Pop Performance’ from May 2 to 5, which showcases a dynamic fusion of traditional Korean music and K-POP. These events will offer visitors an immersive experience of Korean culture throughout their stay.
CBS News and Stations to air Earth Day special documentary ‘An American River’
CBS News and Stations release the trailer for An American River, the Earth Day special shining a light on how most Americans live within a mile of a river, but unchecked factors such as climate change, raw sewage and extreme flooding and weather conditions threaten American rivers’ health.
The hour-long documentary debuts on Saturday, April 19 at 1:00 PM, ET on CBS News 24/7, and is hosted by Climate Watch national correspondent David Schechter.
