Little Buddha starring Keanu Reeves gets re-released in theaters
The new 4K restoration of Bernardo Bertolucci’s Little Buddha (1993) starring Keanu Reeves will be released in theaters May 9th in NYC at IFC Center, and May 16th in LA at Laemmle Glendale. A national expansion to select cities will follow.
Drawing on Buddhist history to weave a metaphor about the tragedy of Tibetans in exile, Little Buddha is Bernardo Bertolucci’s stunning follow-up to The Sheltering Sky. In this religious tour-de-fource, a Buddhist monk, Lama Norbu (Ying Ruocheng), believes that a 10-year-old American boy, Jesse (Alex Wiesendanger), is the reincarnation of his spiritual teacher, Lama Dorje. Jesse’s father, Dean (Chris Isaak, Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me), and mother, Lisa (Bridget Fonda, Jackie Brown), are skeptical, but following his business partner’s suicide, a transformed Dean relents and allows his son to travel to Bhutan. However, there are two other children whom the monk thinks may also be the reincarnation of Lama Dorje. Featuring Keanu Reeves as Siddhartha.

Skyler Carkhuff’s coming-of-age romantic drama Off Season sets May 16 release date
The coming-of-age romantic drama Off Season, written and directed by Skyler Carkhuff will be released on digital and on DVD, starting May 16, 2025.
Starring in the movie are Nathanial Ansbach (‘Luke’), Ita Korenzecher (‘Molly’), Maria Parenti (‘Emma’), and Chris Viemeister (‘Stephen’).
Off Season is a story of regret and redemption in a frozen beach town. A couple, reeling from a recent tragedy, finds their life upended when a strange new family moves in next door. Stephen and Molly Cohen have relocated to the sleepy Long Island beach town of Montauk after losing their son in a freak accident. Across the street, the arrival of the new family unleashes a wave of painful memories they’ve worked to leave in the past. Off Season is a multi-timeline narrative, telling the story of two couples, past and present, whose lives are spiraling off axis. Their crossroads may just reveal the path to redemption for Stephen and Molly.
“Off Season is my take on the New York love story,” said filmmaker Skyler Carkhuff. “The film reflects on mourning an unfathomable loss and grappling with a relationship on the verge of becoming toxic. All of this is set against the backdrop of Montauk in the darkest winter months, and an empty, late-night New York in the holiday season. Off Season is a love letter to this city and a story of life here unique to any depiction put on screen.”
