Netflix dropped the official trailer for Richard Linklater’s Nouvelle Vague, a black-and-white tribute to the birth of the French New Wave, reimagining the whirlwind shoot of Jean-Luc Godard’s Breathless.
The cast features Guillaume Marbeck as Godard, Zoey Deutch as Jean Seberg, and Aubry Dullin as Jean-Paul Belmondo.
Nouvelle Vague world premiered in competition at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, and will open in select U.S. theaters on October 31, 2025, before streaming on Netflix beginning November 14, 2025.
A playful, poignant love letter to cinema, Nouvelle Vague reimagines the making of Jean-Luc Godard’s Breathless in an exuberant exploration of the youthful rebellion and creative chaos that shaped the French New Wave. Directed by Richard Linklater, starring Zoey Deutch, Guillaume Marbeck, and Aubry Dullin.
Linklater faithfully re-enacted the 20-day shoot, revealing in an interview, “We had the camera notes, we had the reports. I never knew more about a film that I didn’t make,.”
