Depeche Mode: M is a concert documentary directed by Mexican filmmaker Fernando Frías de la Parra, featuring English electronic music icons Depeche Mode (Dave Gahan and Martin Gore).
The film blends footage from the band’s three sold-out Mexico City concerts at the Foro Sol during their 2023-2024 Memento Mori Tour with cultural explorations of mortality and Mexican traditions. Narrated by actor Daniel Giménez Cacho, it mixes concert spectacle, archival materials, and interpretive interstitials.
Depeche Mode: M premiered at the 2025 Tribeca Film Festival, followed by a live conversation with Depeche Mode and director Fernando Frías. It will be released in a limited theatrical run and IMAX screenings worldwide beginning October 28, 2025.
The documentary is an expressive and dynamic cinematic film featuring interstitials and archival footage from the band’s Mexico City shows on the 2023-2024 Memento Mori Tour. Conceptualized and directed by award-winning filmmaker Fernando Frias (I’m No Longer Here), it takes audiences on a profound musical journey, using nearly 200,000 Mexican fans’ fervent connection with the band as a window into the band’s timeless global influence, and a powerful tribute to the unbreakable connection between music, tradition and the human spirit. Through Frias’ creative lens, the cinematic experience weaves footage from the three sold-out shows at Mexico City’s Foro Sol Stadium to explore the parallels between the themes on Depeche Mode’s latest album Memento Mori and the deep connection to death and mortality in Mexican culture.
Frontman Dave Gahan described the film this way, “At its core, our new film ‘M’ is about the deep connection between music, culture, and people—and Fernando Frías, who directed and conceived the film, did a beautiful job telling that story through the lens of Mexican culture and our shows in Mexico City.”
