Jacob Elordi will be honored at the 2025 Newport Beach Film Festival with the Maverick Award for his “remarkable performance” in Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein.
Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein follows Victor Frankenstein, a brilliant but egotistical scientist, brings a creature to life in a monstrous experiment that ultimately leads to the undoing of both the creator and his tragic creation. A retelling of the classic novel about what it means to be human, to crave love, and seek understanding.
Elordi stars as the iconic creature in the adaptation, based on the classic Mary Shelley novel.
Also starring in the film are Mia Goth, Oscar Isaac and Christoph Waltz.
The film made its world debut at Venice Film Festival, followed by TIFF where it won the First Runner Up for the TIFF People’s Choice Award.

“The Newport Beach Film Festival is thrilled to honor Jacob Elordi for his remarkable performance in Frankenstein,” said Gregg Schwenk, CEO and Executive Director of NBFF. “With his commanding screen presence and bold choices, Jacob has quickly become one of the most exciting actors of his generation. We are proud to celebrate his talent and the impact of his work.”
The presentation will take place following a live recording of The Hollywood Reporter’s Awards Chatter podcast, moderated by THR’s executive editor Scott Feinberg, in front of a festival audience.
Elordi is also known for his performances in Saltburn, Priscilla, “The Narrow Road the Deep North”, “Euphoria”, On Swift Horses and Oh Canada. Up next, audiences can see Elordi in Emerald Fennel’s “Wuthering Height” and Ridley Scott’s “The Dog Stars”.
The 26th Newport Beach Film Festival will be held from October 16-23, 2025.
