A Poet directed by Simón Mesa Soto took the Jury prize for Best Narrative Feature, and Natchez directed by Suzannah Herbert won for Documentary Feature at the 34th Philadelphia Film Festival.
Recently selected as Colombia’s Oscar submission for Best International Feature Film at the 98th Academy Awards, A Poet (Un poeta) follows an aging and erratic poet who meets a teenage girl from humble roots, and brings some light to his days by helping her cultivate her talent.
The documentary Natchez explores the Mississippi town of the same name which relies on antebellum tourism to survive, reckoning with the past, an uncertain future, and what it owes to descendants of slavery.
The festival continues through October 26, 2025.
