Fackham Hall, directed by Jim O’Hanlon, is a comedic take on a Downton Abbey-style period drama, blending murder mystery with sharp wit and absurd charm.

Set in a chaotic aristocratic English estate, Fackham Hall flips the traditional British period drama into a sharp, fast paced comedy. The film follows Eric Noone, a streetwise pickpocket who cons his way into a job at the stately home of the Davenport family. What begins as a bid for a better life quickly spirals into chaos when No-one becomes entangled in the household’s tangled web of secrets, scandals, and misplaced silverware.

At the heart of the story is the youngest Davenport daughter, Rose, whose rebellious charm catches Eric’s eye and sets off a forbidden romance that threatens to upend the rigid order of the manor. Their budding relationship unfolds against a backdrop of aristocratic absurdity, including a disastrously botched wedding and a sudden murder that leaves everyone pointing fingers.

The comedy centers on love, lies, and the eccentricity of the old British elites.

“Those who are fed up to their back teeth of period dramas and want to see them sent up mercilessly, but also those who love them, who will hopefully be able to enjoy the lavish settings, lighting, costumes, and hairstyles even as they’re laughing themselves silly at the surreal madness of the world,” says O’Hanlon.
