Samara Weaving and Kyle Gallner are lovers on the run in Carolina Caroline, a thriller from director Carter Rehmeier.
Starring alongside them in the independent film are Kyra Sedgwick and Jon Gries.
Carolina Caroline made its world premiere at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival as part of the prestigious Centrepiece program.
From there, it continued its festival run, including a high-profile opening night slot at the 2026 Florida Film Festival.
The film is now set for a U.S. theatrical release on June 5, 2026, via Magnolia Pictures.
Acclaimed director Adam Carter Rehmeier’s romantic crime thriller stars Samara Weaving (Ready or Not, Borderline) as Caroline Daniels, whose desire to leave her small Texas town brings her into the orbit of a charismatic con man (Kyle Gallner), and together they weave a path of crime and passion across the American Southeast.
Also starring Kyra Sedgwick, the film features a wide-ranging country music soundtrack, with tracks from artists such as Jason Isbell, Chris Stapleton, Loretta Lynn, and over a dozen others.
Screen Rant review describes Carolina Caroline as “a thrilling & romantic lovers-on-the-run story”, applauding Weaving and Gallner’s performance as “absolutely stellar”. Critic Graeme Guttmann noted, “What makes Carolina Caroline so magical is the way it transcends its clichés to tell an engrossing story. Even though we know where it’s going (for the most part), there’s something so compelling about what Rehmeier puts on the screen that makes Carolina Caroline work.”
