In O Horizon, a sci-fi comedy-drama from writer and director Madeleine Rotzler, a brilliant neuroscientist discovers a technology capable of reconnecting her with her deceased father.
Starring in the independent film are Maria Bakalova, David Strathairn, and Adam Pally.
O Horizon first premiered at the 2025 Santa Barbara International Film Festival in February, where it received the Panavision Spirit Award for Independent Cinema. The film later screened at additional festivals, including the Lighthouse Film Festival. It is now slated to open in New York theaters on June 12, 2026, followed by a Los Angeles release on June 19.

In the film, Abby (Bakalova) is a young neuroscientist navigating an exhilarating new romance and a groundbreaking career discovery amidst the recent loss of her father (Strathairn). When an emerging technology suddenly allows her to speak with him again, it turns her life upside down.
Writer and director Madeleine Rotzler crafts a magical realist fable for our modern era that considers our relationships amid rapidly evolving technologies with warmth and humor.
O Horizon also stars Adam Pally (Sonic the Hedgehog), Maggie Grace (Taken), Avi Nash (The Walking Dead), Paulina Porizkova (Wedding Bell Blues), and Aimee Mann (The Big Lebowski).
In a review for MovieWeb, critic Greg Archer called the film “an indie delight” and described it as “a little film with a big heart.” He wrote, “As the film moves along, filmmaker Madeleine Rotzler manages to create an effective adult fairy tale, a kind of latter day Alice in Wonderland, in which the main character is sent down her own emotional rabbit hole, experiencing new things along the way.”
