A24 has unveiled the first teaser trailer for Primetime, the unsettling new crime drama from documentarian Lance Oppenheim that stars Robert Pattinson as television journalist Chris Hansen during the height of the controversial “To Catch a Predator” era.
Alongside Pattinson, the cast includes Merritt Wever, Skyler Gisondo, Matthew Maher, Phoebe Bridgers, and Bokeem Woodbine
The project marks Oppenheim’s narrative feature debut after earning critical acclaim for documentaries such as Some Kind of Heaven, Spermworld, and the HBO series Ren Faire.
Moody, eerie, and intentionally fragmented, the teaser offers brief flashes of grainy footage and tense confrontations, establishing the film’s haunting story.
The film itself leans heavily into the unsettling cultural legacy surrounding the original NBC series, with Pattinson delivering Chris Hansen’s signature lines in a cold and measured tone that instantly recalls the real life broadcasts that captivated audiences in the mid-2000s.

Premiering in 2004, the series followed host Chris Hansen as he confronted adult men who arrived at undercover sting houses believing they were meeting minors for sex, only to discover they had been communicating online with decoys posing as underage individuals. It ended in 2008 following the highly publicized suicide of Texas assistant district attorney Bill Conradt during a police raid connected to one of the investigations.
Primetime is slated to open in theaters in the Fall.
Here is the synopsis: In 2006, To Catch a Predator host Chris Hansen sets out to make television history.
