After making its North American debut at the New York Asian Film Festival, Chinese box office and critical hit Dear You is set to reach a wider audience with its release in the US.
Directed by Lan Hongchun, Dear You has become one of China’s breakout successes, earning praise for its heartfelt storytelling and exploration of family, sacrifice, and cultural identity.
The film follows a multigenerational story of love and loyalty, focusing on a debt-ridden young man who travels to Thailand to find the grandfather he believed to have abandoned his family.
What he discovers instead is a lifetime of quiet devotion.
Inspired by the history of qiaopi, letters and remittances sent home by overseas Chinese immigrants, the film transforms what begins as a search for financial salvation into a moving examination of love, forgiveness, and the unseen sacrifices families make for one another.
“We’re honored to bring Dear You to North American audiences following its extraordinary success in China,” said Doris Pfardrescher, President and CEO of Well Go USA Entertainment. “Lan Hongchun has crafted a deeply moving story about family, sacrifice, and the enduring power of human kindness that resonates across cultures. We know audiences will be captivated by its emotional honesty and unforgettable performances.”
Dear You opens in select theaters across the United States and Canada on September 4 from Well Go USA Entertainment.
