The Toronto International Film Festival has revealed the award winners, with the TIFF People’s Choice Award going to La Bola Negra, directed by Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi.

Other top honors, including the International People’s Choice Award, went to Elsinore, directed by Simon Stone, and the People’s Choice Documentary Award went to Darlene Love: I Know Where I’ve Been, directed by Barry Avrich.

In a historic first this year, winning TIFF’s Platform Prize grants a non-English-language film direct eligibility for Best International Feature Film at the Academy Awards, with the award going to Angh, directed by Theja Rio. In a statement, the Platform jury said, “The Platform Prize goes to Angh. For its refreshing perspective, strength of filmmaking, and deeply resonant portrait of a world. We praise the filmmaker’s vision, audacity and courage.”
