The Edinburgh International Film Festival announced on Friday that Chair Iain Smith has made the decision to leave the board of the festival.
Iain Smith joined the board in 2007 and took the leading position of Chair in 2008. He has been instrumental in guiding the film festival during a growth period following the UK Film Council’s investment in 2008. He has played a crucial role in shaping the Festival; bringing technology and digital initiatives to the forefront.
Iain Smith said: “My growing commitments as a producer have meant my time is limited so regrettably I have decided to step down as a board member for the EIFF.
“I will always have a place in my heart for the Festival and will continue to be on hand to offer my advice and support. As a producer I am always looking for new talent and there is no question that Edinburgh is the place to find the very best; I wish them and the CMI every success for the future.”
