‘One Battle After Another’ and ‘It Was Just an Accident’ Take Top 2025 Chicago Film Critics Association Awards

2025 Chicago Film Critics Association Awards Winners
One Battle After Another (Warner Bros.) It Was Just an Accident (neon)

Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another bagged a record nine awards at the 2025 Chicago Film Critics Association awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Supporting Actor for Benicio del Toro, and Supporting Actress for Teyana Taylor.

The film surpassed the previous record seven wins from 2021’s Power of the Dog.

Rose Byrne won Best Actress for her performance in Mary Bronstein’s If I Had Legs I’d Kick You and Timothée Chalamet earned Best Actor for his starring role in Josh Safdie’s Marty Supreme.

Other top awards went to Iranian filmmaker Jafar Panahi for Best Original Screenplay for It Was Just an Accident, which also won Best International Feature; Geeta Gandbhir’s The Perfect Neighbor was named Best Documentary; and Eva Victor was named the Milos Stehlik Breakthrough Filmmaker Award winner for Sorry, Baby.
