The news was confirmed in a tweet by his son actor Ben Stiller, who said his father passed away from natural causes.
Born Gerald Isaac Stiller, Jerry achieved success in the 1960s and 1970s, with the comedy team act Stiller and Meara, composed of him and his wife, Anne Meara who passed away in 2015.
Stiller went on to co-star in many films including mainstream films Zoolander, Heavyweights, Hot Pursuit, The Heartbreak Kid; independent films: Camp Stories, The Independent, That’s Adequate and the camp classic John Waters’ Hairspray.
He is survived by his son actor-comedian Ben Stiller and daughter actress Amy Stiller.
