Ahead of the world premiere at 2021 Hot Docs film festival, the first look trailer debuted for the documentary film The Face of Anonymous, directed by Gary Lang.
The Face of Anonymous is described as a revealing and timely portrait of American activism in the 21st century, criss-crossing the continent to track the exploits of Christopher Doyon, aka Commander X, one of the most iconic and divisive figures in the international “hacktivist” network known as Anonymous.
Commander X has a knack for showing up at the beginning of movements, explains journalist David Kushner, one of several interviewees who provide the context—and, sometimes, reality check—for Doyon’s and Anonymous’ incredible story.
Doyon is an old-school revolutionary who considers himself a freedom-fighter who helped shape the early 21st century. Now living in exile in Mexico, after a hair-raising journey captured in the film, Commander X reveals not just the How but the Why of Anonymous.
