The Female Eye Film Festival (FeFF) wrapped on Sunday March 20, 2011 with record-breaking attendance and success. Celebrating international women directors, the festival attracted notable talent from around the world including Mackenzie Phillips (One Day at a Time, American Graffiti), Tyler Blackburn (Pretty Little Liars), Anne Tait (Iron Road) and Mary Harron (American Psycho, I Shot Andy Warhol and The Notorious Betty Page).

Gasparilla International Film Festival revealed today that Jim Kohlberg’s The Music Never Stopped will be the opening film of 2011 festival. The film’s producer will be in attendance for this Southeastern U.S. premier, along with GIFF’s honorary guest, M. Emmet Walsh.

The 8th annual San Francisco Ocean Film Festival announced the six award recipients chosen from its lineup of more than 50 films. Awards include two new categories this year, for best short film as well as best conservation film.

Bermuda International Film Festival (BIFF) announced the full line-up and schedule for the 14th annual Bermuda International Film Festival taking place this month, March 18 – 24, 2011. This year’s event will centred in Hamilton, with screenings taking place at Speciality Cinema & Grill and Liberty Theatre.

Los Angeles Women’s International Film Festival will open Friday, March 25 at Laemmle’s Sunset 5 in Hollywood with Pink Skies, a documentary feature directed by Gulcin Gilbert to be followed by a conversation with the filmmakers.

From April 1-3, 2011, the SLC Film Center in Salt Lake CIty, Utah, presents the inaugural Tumbleweeds Film Festival for Children and Youth – the only film festival of its kind in the intermountain west. The 1st annual festival features a jam-packed program of feature-length films from around the world. This year’s festival presents films from ten countries including The Netherlands, Germany and Ireland. Two of the films will be screened in their original language with English subtitles that will be read aloud by a “subtitle reader.” In addition to film screenings, the SLC Film Center is partnering with Spy Hop Productions to present workshops designed to introduce participants to different aspects of filmmaking.

The Gasparilla International Film Festival (GIFF) will once again collaborate with Global Film Initiative and the Tampa Museum of Art to bring the best independent foreign films to the Tampa Bay area. Global Lens 2011 is a prestigious series of films, which supports unique and critically acclaimed cinematic works of independent filmmakers from all over the globe.

The inaugural Santa Catalina Film Festival will be held May 6-8, 2011, in Avalon, Santa Catalina Island. The Santa Catalina Film Festival (SCFF) is a three day festival celebrating independent film with screenings all weekend in addition to discussion panels with top film industry executives.

One World International Film Festival running in Prague from March 8 to 17, 2011 will use an “Empty Chair” to draw attention to imprisoned Nobel Peace Prize winner Liu Xiaobo. The Chinese dissident had been sentenced to 11 years in jail. During the One World festival viewers will come across an empty chair with the poster ofLiu in screening halls.
