Bobby Cannavale (Ezra) will be honored with the Artist of Distinction Award and Margaret Qualley (The Substance) will be honored with the Spotlight Award at the 25th Newport Beach Film Festival (NBFF). Both Cannavale and Qualley will be honored at the Festival’s annual Awards brunch taking place on Sunday, October 20.

On Becoming a Guinea Fowl, the second directorial work by Rungano Nyoni won the Golden Eye award in the Feature Film Competition at the 20th Zurich Film Festival. Black Box Diaries by Shiori Itō won he Golden Eye award in the Documentary Competition along with Audience Award.

Tapawingo is the winner of the Grand Jury Prize for Best Overall Feature Film of the Year along with Best Director for Dylan Narang, at the 13th Richmond International Film Festival which ran September 24-29, 2024. The film starring Jon Heder and Billy Zane also won Audience Choice Award for Best Narrative Feature, Best Ensemble Cast: U.S, Best Casting and Best Editing.

Afternoons of Solitude (Tardes de soledad) directed by Albert Serra is the winner of the Golden Shell for Best Film at the 72nd San Sebastian Festival. The Silver Shell for Best Director was a tie, shared between Laura Carreira for On Falling and Pedro Martín Calero for The Wailing (El llanto).

A 20th Anniversary screening of Miracle, Gavin O’Connor’s tale of the 1980 U.S. Olympic hockey team’s Gold Medal journey, will open the the inaugural Boise Film Festival set to run October 10-13.
