The dark comedy “Mope” starring David Arquette, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett and Max Adler released a new trailer ahead of its release online on June 16. The film is the darkly hilarious and tragic true story of best friends Steve Driver and Tom Dong as they struggle to make it as porn stars, but end up getting hired as “mopes,” the porn equivalent of movie extras.

Two festival-favorite documentaries will open and close the brand new film festival, with Michael Barnett’s CHANGING THE GAME opening OUTstream Film Fest and David Charles Rodrigues’ GAY CHORUS DEEP SOUTH taking the Closing Night slot.

Showtime released the official trailer for the award-winning documentary Ringside, which premieres on the cable network on Friday, June 12 at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT. Filmed over the course of nine years by award-winning director Andre Hörmann, Ringside chronicles the dramatic upbringing of two boxing prodigies and follows the divergent paths they take as they navigate life’s uncertainties on the South Side of Chicago.

Over 140 documentary films will be showcased as part of 2020 Hot Docs Festival Online, which starts May 28. Among the documentaries featured at the festival include Finding Sally, directed by Tamara Mariam Dawit; and the World Premiere of First We Eat directed by Suzanne Crocker; and Meat the Future directed by Liz Marshall.

CineCina Film Festival rolls out its Online Film Festival this week spotlighting 9 feature films and 2 classic short films, highlighted by award-winners like Congcong Teng’s SEND ME TO THE CLOUDS and Oliver Siu Kuen Chan’s STILL HUMAN. The online festival will be made made available on CathayPlay.com, beginning this week and next, as the New York City-based film festival joins other film organizations presenting films virtually.
