Kristen Lovell and Zackary Drucker’s Sundance award-winning documentary The Stroll will open and its Hannes Hirsch’s debut feature Drifter will close the 37th edition of BFI Flare: London LGBTQIA+ Film Festival taking place March 15th – 26th, 2023. In addition, Tünde Skovrán’s intimate documentary Who I Am Not will have its UK Premiere as the Centrepiece Presentation Screening.

The world premiere of All India Rank by Varun Grover brought the 52nd edition of International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) to a close with Dalva by Emmanuelle Nicot winning the Audience Award. The feature debut by Belgian writer and filmmaker Emmanuelle Nicot portrays the journey of a girl at the cusp of teenager-hood, Dalva, who must learn how to be a child again, after she’s been taken away from her abusive father Jacques.

Le spectre de Boko Haram by Cyrielle Raingou (Cameroon, France) wins the Tiger Award at the 52nd International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR). In her debut feature, Cyrielle Raingou follows a group of children as they carve out their own worlds amid the dangers of armed conflict. We meet the precocious Falta, studious and hardworking, eager to process her father’s death in a terrorist attack. Her classmate, Ibrahim, and his older brother Mohamad struggle with balancing their boyhood energy and a traumatic past that strays them from their eight and 11-year-old innocence.

The American Film Institute (AFI) announced the dates for AFI FEST 2023.

Directed by Liu Jian, a professor at China Academy of Art’s School of Animation and Games, and produced by a team of teachers and students over a span of five years, the Chinese animated film Art College 1994 will world premiere in Competition section in the 73rd Berlinale.

The Berlinale announced the competition jury and has added the world premiere of Art College 1994 by Chinese director Liu Jian in the Competition that will now comprise 19 films.

The NEXT Innovator Award was awarded to KOKOMO CITY.

Alice Winocour’s Revoir Paris will open the 28th edition of Rendez-Vous with French Cinema, the annual festival of contemporary French filmmaking, taking place March 2–12 at Film at Lincoln Center in New York City.
