As Southwest Florida grapples with the aftermath of Hurricane Ian, the 2022 Naples International Film Festival will take place as planned October 27-30, screening 64 films (13 narrative features, 9 documentary features and 42 short films) from 17 countries.

The war epic film Devotion directed by JD Dillard, and starring Jonathan Majors opens this year’s 26th Urbanworld Film Festival, boasting a strong film slate. Majors will also serve as the festival’s official ambassador.
The 14th Annual Hola Mexico Film Festival will close with the film Enfermo Amor (Love Sick) directed by Marco Polo Constandse and Rodrigo Nava; starring Camila Sodi, Mónica Huarte, Andrés Palacios, Fernanda Castillo, Adriana Louvier, Maya Zapata and Juan Pablo Medina. and an exciting musical performance by Mexican cumbia star Amandititita.

The Brazilian film Mars One, written and directed by Gabriel Martins, was named Best Narrative Feature, and Tracey Arcabasso Smith’s Relative earned the Best Documentary Feature award at the 53rd Nashville Film Festival (NashFilm).
AFI Fest Film Festival 2022 today unveiled the full lineup of 125 films including Bones and All directed by Luca Guadagnino, Le Pupille directed by Alice Rohrwacher, Nanny directed by Nikyatu Jusu, SR. directed by Chris Smith, and Women Talking by writer and director Sarah Polley, which will all screen in the Special Screenings section. Of the official selections, 53% are directed by women, 32% are directed by BIPOC filmmakers and 11% are directed by LGBTQIA+ filmmakers.

The Savannah College of Art and Design hosts this year’s 25th anniversary edition of SCAD Savannah Film Festival in person, October 22–29, 2022. The SCAD Savannah Film Festival will screen 143 films, including 53 narrative feature films, 20 documentary feature films, and 79 shorts, with eight world premieres and six U.S. premieres.

The 13th annual San Francisco Dance Film Festival (SFDFF) showcases international and locally produced dance films from October 28 to November 7, 2022, in various San Francisco theaters and streamed online.
The 18th Zurich Film Festival (ZFF) presented the main Golden Eye prizes in the three competition categories to Cascadeuses by Elena Avdija, Los Reyes del Mundo by Laura Mora Ortega and Sam Now by Reed Harkness.
The 5th New York Baltic Film Festival (NYBFF) presented by Scandinavia House: The Nordic Center in America returns on November 2-13, 2022 as a hybrid festival featuring 15 feature films – 10 narrative and 5 documentaries.
Filmmaker Ava DuVernay will serve as Guest Artistic Director at AFI Fest 2022 and has selected three independent films amplifying the voices and vision of women directors to showcase: Hellion (2014), directed by Kat Candler and starring Juliette Lewis and Aaron Paul; Mosquita y Mari (2012), directed by Aurora Guerrero; and Yelling to the Sky (2011), directed by Victoria Mahoney and starring Gabourey Sidibe and Zoë Kravitz. In addition to the screenings, Ava DuVernay will moderate a special panel with the directors, who are part of the historic all-women directorial roster for the acclaimed drama series Queen Sugar.
