Zurich Film Festival announced the first seven titles in Gala Premieres section at the upcoming 18th edition, including the star-studded drama The Banshees of Inisherin by Oscar-winning director Martin McDonagh, the European premiere of the German film adaptation All Quiet on the Western Front by Edward Berger as well as the world premieres of Der Nachname by Sönke Wortmann and Die Goldenen Jahre by Barbara Kulcsar.

Actress Michelle Yeoh will be honored with the 15th annual Kirk Douglas Award For Excellence In Film at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival. This marks the first time since the passing of screen legend Kirk Douglas that the honor will be awarded.

The Tallgrass Film Festival announced a preview of gala film selections and special presentations for this year’s 20th Anniversary edition of the popular film festival, taking place September 28-October 2. Troma Films legend Lloyd Kaufman will be a recipient of the festival’s Ad Astra Award, and the all-documentary gala presentations will include the world premiere of Daniel Fetherston and Danny Szlauderbach’s documentary, We Were Famous, You Don’t Remember: The Embarrassment, Bryan Darling and Jesse Finley Reed’s All Man: The International Male Story, Bradford Thomason and Brett Whitcomb’s Tribeca hit, Butterfly in the Sky, and Camille Hardman and Gary Lane’s Still Working 9 to 5.
Waco’s Deep in the Heart Film Festival announced the award winners for the 6th edition of the film festival led by Aaron Hosé’s One Pint at a Time, which took three awards, including Best Feature Film, Best Documentary, and the Audience Award for Best Feature. Individual awards were led by The Sisters Karras’ Micah Stathis (Best Feature Film Director), and A Place Among the Dead’s’ Juliet Landau (Best Performance – Feature Film).
New York Film Festival (NYFF) announced the 32 films that comprise the Main Slate of the 60th edition of the festival taking place September 30–October 16, 2022.

The ensemble cast of My Policeman — Harry Styles, Emma Corrin, Gina McKee, Linus Roache, David Dawson, and Rupert Everett — will be honored with the TIFF Tribute Award for Performance at Toronto International Film Festival. Double Oscar® winner Ben Proudfoot’s MINK! tells the story of Patsy Takemoto Mink, the first woman of color elected to the U.S. House of Representatives. Rory Keenan’s Bump stars British fan favorite Gemma Arterton, Frank Chi’s 38 And The Garden is produced by Oscar® winner Travon Free and revisits an Asian American athlete’s story. Mike Kearby’s comedy The Problem With Time Travel touches on climate change, whilst Tara Westwood’s Triggered stars Isiah Whitlock Jr. and Law and Order’s SVU Robert John Burke. Coral Amiga’s Crosshairs shares the story of two boys whose friendship is derailed, whilst Evan Miller’s Thoughts and Prayers all-star cast includes Adrianne Palicki and Zachary Levi.
The 66th BFI London Film Festival will close with Rian Johnson’s Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, starring Daniel Craig, Edward Norton, Janelle Monáe, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Jessica Henwick and Madelyn Cline with Kate Hudson and Dave Bautista. The film will receive its European Premiere on Sunday October 16 at the Southbank Centre in the Royal Festival Hall, ahead of its release into UK cinemas and subsequent launch on Netflix.
