
The 31st Heartland International Film Festival (HIFF) taking place October 6-16, will showcase more than 115 feature films; and will open and close with two films with Indiana connections.

Indie Memphis Film Festival celebrates its 25th Anniversary from October 19th through 24th on the ground in Memphis, as well as virtually, with an intensely varied international lineup of new films, most of which with filmmakers in-person, as well as revival screenings that celebrate Memphis’ rich cultural history, and incredible restorations of film classics.

Locarno Film Festival will no longer present gender-based acting awards, but instead refer to new, gender-neutral performance categories.

Film at Lincoln Center unveiled the official posters of the 60th New York Film Festival by photographer Nan Goldin, subject of this year’s Centerpiece film All the Beauty and the Bloodshed, which debuts October 7 at Alice Tully Hall. In celebration of the 60th anniversary of the festival, Goldin has designed two limited edition posters to commemorate this year’s milestone.

International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) return to cinemas from October 14 to 16 2022 for the 51st edition, with a program lineup of 35 films, previously only made available to press and industry online earlier this year. Filmmakers and special guests will be in attendance to introduce their work and take part in Q&A sessions at the event.

India broadcast journalist Ravish Kumar, is the subject of Vinay Shukla’s newsroom documentary While We Watched, world premiering at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival.

Oliver Hermanus’ Living will open the 30th Hamptons International Film Festival, with The Son, directed by Florian Zeller as Centerpiece film, and The Banshees of Inisherin, directed by Martin McDonagh as Spotlight selection. McDonagh is set to attend with his film and participate in an “A Conversation With…” discussion as part of the festival program.

The official trailer dropped today for The Fabelmans, directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Gabriel LaBelle as Sammy Fabelman, a young aspiring filmmaker based on Spielberg himself, growing up in post-World War II era Arizona. The Fabelmans premiered on Saturday night at the Toronto International Festival to rave reviews with Variety writing that the film “Could Be the Oscar Frontrunner for Best Picture;” and will close the upcoming AFI FEST 2022.

Laura Poitras’ All the Beauty and the Bloodshed won the Golden Lion for Best Film at the 79th Venice Film Festival. The documentary chronicles the photographer and activist Nan Goldin and her crusade to hold Purdue Pharma, owned by the Sackler family, accountable for the opioid epidemic.

The Mexican comedy Love & Mathematics (Amor y matemáticas) from director Claudia Sainte-Luce (The Amazing Catfish), will have its world premiere in the Contemporary World Cinema showcase at Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).
