THE WHALE Wins Audience Award At 2022 Miami Film Festival Gems
The Whale by Darren Aronofsky (A24) The Whale is the winner of the Miami Film Festival’s Miami GEMS 2022 Audience Award. The film, directed by Darren Aronofsky, tells the story of a reclusive English teacher (Brendan Fraser), who is living with severe obesity, seeks to reconnect with his teenage daughter (Sadie Sink) for one last chance at redemption. MFF’s annual fall event took place from November 3-10 at MDC’s Tower Theater Miami.

So Low You Can’t Get Over It directed by Stanya Kahn At its 52nd edition, International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) will celebrate radical filmmakers and visual artists including Hungarian filmmaker Judit Elek, Japanese animator Yuasa Masaaki,and American interdisciplinary artist Stanya Kahn. The festival also revealed the first titles in Harbour, the festival’s largest and broadest program.

Cate Blanchett to Receive Outstanding Performer of the Year Award for TÁR at Santa Barbara Film Festival
Tár starring Cate Blanchett Cate Blanchett will receive the Outstanding Performer of the Year Award at the 38th annual Santa Barbara International Film Festival for her critically acclaimed portrayal of Lydia Tár in Todd Feld’s TÁR. Setting a historic record, this is the second time Blanchett will be feted at the festival as the Outstanding Performer of the Year. In 2014, she received the honor for her role as Jasmine French in Blue Jasmine, for which she also won the Oscar for Best Actress. In 2008, she was crowned the Modern Master Award for her role as Queen Elizabeth in Elizabeth: The Golden Age and as Bob Dylan in I’m Not There.
