The Berlinale Retrospective “No Angels – Mae West, Rosalind Russell & Carole Lombard” postponed due to the pandemic will now be presented at the 72nd Berlin International Film Festival in February. The section’s 27 films were made during the heyday of the screwball comedy from 1932 to 1943, and each one showcases the distinctive style of its star. Ten of the movies will be shown with German subtitles.

Keke Palmer and Common star in the dramatic thriller Alice, world premiering at 2022 Sundance Film Festival. The film marks the feature debut of Krystin Ver Linden (American Roulette) who was recently named one of Variety’s “10 Directors to Watch” for 2022. Vertical Entertainment and Roadside Attractions acquired the film, and set a theatrical release date of March 18, 2022.

The Homage section of the 72nd Berlin International Film Festival will be dedicated to French film and stage actor Isabelle Huppert, who will be awarded an Honorary Golden Bear for lifetime achievement. Huppert is one of the most versatile actors in the world, and has played an impressive range of characters in almost 150 cinema and television productions.

Along the Way by award-winning Dutch director Mijke de Jong will open the on-site 51st edition of International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) on January 26, 2022. This moving yet unsentimental feature is based on the story of daring, young Afghan twins Nahid and Malihe – who the filmmaker met during her volunteer work at Moria refugee camp, on the Greek island of Lesbos.
