
Thirty-three films will be featured in the lineup for the 56th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (KVIFF), including twenty-seven world premieres, three international premieres, and three European premieres.

Delta, the new film from Italian director Michele Vannucci, starring Alessandro Borghi and Luigi Lo Cascio, will be presented at the 75th Locarno Film Festival (August 3-13, 2022) as an advance world premiere in Piazza Grande.

Triangle of Sadness directed by Ruben Östlund won the Palme d’or, the top prize at the 75th Cannes Film Festival. In the film starring Woody Harrelson as Thomas, The Captain, models Carl and Yaya are invited for a luxury cruise with a rogues’ gallery of super-rich passengers. At first, all appears Instagrammable. But a storm is brewing, and the cruise ends catastrophically. Carl and Yaya find themselves marooned on a desert island with a group of billionaires and one of the ship’s cleaners. Hierarchy is suddenly flipped upside down, as the housekeeper is the the only one who knows how to fish.

Cannes Film Festival announced the winners of the 2022 Un Certain Regard and La Cinef Selection competitions. The Worst Ones directed by Lise Akoka and Romane Gueret was awarded the top prize in the 2022 Un Certain Regard Competition and “A Conspiracy Man” (“Il Barbiere Complottista”) won the La Cinef Selection.

Ahead of the premiere at Tribeca Film Festival, XYZ Films released the first teaser trailer for the Mexican occult horror Huesera, the breakout feature debut from Michelle Garza Cervera. It stars Natalia Solián, Alfonso Dosal (Netflix’s Narcos: Mexico), Mayra Batalla (Prayers for the Stolen), Mercedes Hernández (Identifying Features), Aída López (Capadocia), and Martha Claudia Moreno.

The Austin-based 2022 Cine Las Americas International Film Festival (CLAIFF) taking place June 8-12, announced the lineup of films and videos from Latin America (North, Central, South America, and the Caribbean) and the Iberian Peninsula, for the hybrid edition, featuring a big return to in-theater screenings after a two-year pause.

Directed by Bolivian filmmaker Martín Boulocq (The Most Beautiful and My Best Years, Eugenia), The Visitor (El visitante), will have its world premiere at the 2022 Tribeca Festival. An introspective look at family relationships, class disparity, and the increasingly-dominant presence of Evangelism in Bolivia, The Visitor will premiere in the International Narrative competition of the festival taking place June 8 – 19 in New York City.

Directed by Jenny Waldo, Acid Test, a coming-of-age film fueled by Riot Grrrl music, has its West Coast premiere at Dances with Films festival on June 18.

Netflix released the official trailer for Halftime, the new documentary about superstar Jennifer Lopez, set to World Premiere as the opening night film of the 2022 Tribeca Festival on June 8th. Following the premiere, the documentary directed by Amanda Micheli will be released on Netflix on June 14th.

Directed by Jennifer Tiexiera and Camilla Hall, Subject, a thought-provoking documentary about documentaries exploring the POV of their participants, will World Premiere at the 2022 Tribeca Festival, in the festival’s Documentary Competition section.

The 21st edition of Open Roads: New Italian Cinema, returns to Film at Lincoln Center from June 9 to 15, 2022, offering U.S. audiences a diverse and extensive lineup of contemporary Italian films. With films by directors such as Laura Bispuri, Mario Martone, Nanni Moretti, and Paolo Taviani, this year’s edition features emerging talents and esteemed veterans, commercial and independent fare, gripping dramas and captivating documentaries.

Sony Pictures Classics will release Return to Seoul written and directed by Davy Chou, previously titled as All the People I’ll Never Be, an official selection of the 2022 Cannes Film Festival.
