21st Asian Film Festival of Dallas Announces Lineup. Opens with Wenxiong Xing’s Too Cool to Kill
Too Cool to Kill directed by Wenxiong Xing The 2022 Asian Film Festival of Dallas (AFFD) announced the lineup of 16 feature films (12 Narrative, 4 Documentary), and 11 short films for the 21st edition of the film festival taking place July 21-24, 2022. Opening Night selection is Wenxiong Xing’s Too Cool to Kill, the Closing Night selection is Roshan Sethi’s 7 Days, Spotlight screenings include Park Hoon-Jung’s The Witch 2: The Other One, and Shô Miyake’s Small, Slow but Steady.

Mascarpone directed by Alessandro Guida | Matteo Pilati Out Film CT announced the winners of the 35th Connecticut LGBTQ Film Festival with the Jury Awards – for Feature Film going to Finlandia, and for Documentary going to Prognosis – Notes on Living. The Audience Awards for Best Feature went to Mascarpone, and for Best Documentary went to Invisible.

Every Day in Kaimuki directed by Alika Tengan Bentonville Film Festival announced the jury prize winners for their 8th annual Festival with Alika Tengan’s Every Day in Kaimuki awarded Best Narrative Feature and Gretchen Stoeltje’s Shouting Down Midnight took home the jury award for Best Documentary Feature. Other awards went to Georgia, by Jayil Pak for Best Short Film and Chiqui, by Carlos Cardona, won for Best Episodic.

David Cronenberg to Receive a Donostia Award at San Sebastian Festival
Viggo Mortensen, (r) David Cronenberg Canadian director and screenwriter David Cronenberg will receive a Donostia Award at the 70th edition of the San Sebastian Festival, and screen his latest film Crimes of the Future (2022), starring Viggo Mortensen, Léa Seydoux and Kristen Stewart which competed at Cannes Film Festival.

Berlinale Calls for the Acquittal of Zimbabwean Filmmaker Tsitsi Dangarembga
Tsitsi Dangarembga © Dirk Deckbar / Berlinale 2022 Berlin International Film Festival issued a statement today, calling for the acquittal of filmmaker and 2022 festival juror Tsitsi Dangarembga who was apprehended in July 2020 at a protest in Harare, Zimbabwe. She has since been released on bail, but in a trial, now taking place before the Anti-Corruption Court in Harare, the decision will be made on whether to drop the case or seek a verdict.
